In 1998, Joan Ruch, Jeanne Tomlin and the Southside MIBOR Executive Committee created the Southside MIBOR Spirit Award. The awards’ vision was to memorialize the contributions made by John Ruch and Bill Tomlin to our profession. The award memorializes these two individuals but recognizes others we have lost as well. It is important to note that this award is completely separate from the “Realtor of the Year”. In addition to a very nice plaque, the winning recipient also has a $500 donation made on their behalf to their favorite charity.
The 1st award was presented at the 1998 Southside MIBOR Christmas Dance by Jeanne Tomlin and the Executive Committee. All nominees were recognized. This distinguished award contains the following inscription:
“Southside MIBOR Spirit Award Presented To: (name here), for their outstanding contributions to our profession and to our community. This award is given in memory of John Ruch and Bill Tomlin as well as many others REALTORS® who have so faithfully served their peers and this community before leaving this earth. They have left us their gift of a wonderful spirit…a spirit of sharing our time, sharing our talents and exemplifying good citizenship.”
